Not On The Same Page

When you feel it’s so right

And it never tasted this fine

He fills up your life with joy

He makes your smiles shine

And your heart skips a beat

Every time you hear his name

And yet deep down you know

He just doesn’t feel the same

What do you do?  What do you do?

What do I do?

He just doesn’t feel the same

Comes close, makes me breathless

Holds tight, loves me reckless

Then he goes, he’ll come again

I don’t know when

I don’t know when

I would love, I could love, I should love every day of my life

He’ll shut me down, run away, hide away if I say the word wife

He makes my heart burn, lights up my flame

What a waste, what a shame, is it me that is to blame?

Is this the new, the normal way of lovers?

Only truly together when you’re both under the covers

Then each goes their way until the next time

I grew up thinking this was just a love crime

Nowadays is this just the way things have got to be?

A man in your life is no longer a monopoly

Is it the new love, to pretend you don’t see

That he sees no reason for loyalty?

What do I do? I’m so in love

He just doesn’t feel the same

Comes close, makes me breathless

Holds tight, loves me reckless

Then he goes, he’ll come again

I don’t know when

I don’t know when

What do I do?  I’m so in love

He just doesn’t feel the same

  1. Hey that really hurts. I don’t know how people change so much. How they not feel the same way for you. Love you the same way they did. And just leave and never turn back.

    1. My parents reared me to think of having one marriage mate for life.

I have come across both men and women who seem to think they can have multiple casual connections and don’t see any reason for loyalty.

There is a very diverse array of views, morals, standards and it is a strange challenge when you fall in love with someone who does not have the same view as you.

      1. Yes indeed it is.
Even my mother has taught me to be loyal and supporting but I too have come across people who are ready to betray and don’t even bother about others emotions.
They just want to enjoy life but I don’t know how cheating their partner counts as enjoyment.

  2. I’m so in love with every line you’ve written and the way you expressed your thoughts at this.
And I completely understand the dilemma you’re talking about.
I hope the best for you ❤

    1. I must admit my poems are rather thin on the ground.
I have one poem I am immensely proud of called River. I wrote it twenty years ago and it has been dear to my heart ever since.
The other one I was surprised with is called Rainbow Fields Forever. It was in response to a picture prompt provided by another blogger. I looked at the picture and the words came to me almost instantly. I was fairly pleased with it, but it had lots of likes the day I published it which really encouraged me.
