Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: END/FINISH/OVER/STOP
I might be thinking a bit out of the box this week, but it was that word “over” that inspired my choice for today.
When I was a little girl, my Dad bought me an album on CD that I must have listened to a hundred times. I think I still know all of the songs from that Kylie Minogue album off by heart. A friend of my brothers had already given it to me on cassette tape, but a CD player meant it was so much easier to fast forward to your favourite tracks.
One of my favourite tracks, which I think may have been the last on the album was called “I Miss You”. Early on in the song there is a line “over and over and over”, which is repeated through the song.
I used to dance around the living room to this song, doing high kicks in the chorus. I still love it. I think hearing those verses as a little girl may have shaped me in some way. Reading his letters over and over and over – yes, I admit I have done that. Waking up and starting to think of only him, looking at his photo, daydreaming about him, wasting time because I can’t get him off my mind – guilty as charged.
Even now, while Jack is still out in Africa, I am missing him – a lot! I know he’ll be back on day! When that may be…we will have to wait and see!
As soon as I wake up
I’m starting to think of only you
I read all your letters
Over and over and over
I go to the mirror
Next to the photograph of you
I know it sounds crazy
It brings me much closer to you
I know you’ll be back one day
I only behave this way
‘Cos I miss you
Yeah I miss you
Said I miss you
Yeah I miss you
They tell me I daydream
But all my dreams are only you
I look through the window
And wish I could be with you
They say that I’m wasting time
But I can’t get you off my mind
‘Cos I miss you
Yeah I miss you
Said I miss you
Yeah I miss you
Over and over
I’m happy to be this way
And in the evening
I lie on the bed and think of you
I hug my pillow
And make believe it’s really you
I don’t care what people say
I’m happy to be this way
