Under A Trillion Stars

Couples, Night, Stars, Milkyway, ShadowUnder a trillions stars, we danced on top of cars” has been in my head all week!

I have already posted a track for SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY, but I have been singing an epic song all week that contains a number. In fact, I love this song so much that I have already published a post featuring it this week.

But I wouldn’t do that to you all if it wasn’t such a great song! I am singing it a lot because it is one of my Goldfinch songs. You know a lot about the history of Goldfinch and me. You also know I am with Jack now. Jack knows that I felt completely rescued by Goldfinch. As a result, I have never been ready to stop loving him. So I haven’t. But the fact that we live at opposite ends of the planet has been an issue.

Jack came along and from the moment he did I was in contact with Goldfinch about him. He has given me his blessing. Goldfinch remains my beloved friend, whom I have special memories and immense gratitude to. Jack knows that Goldfinch is always going to be very sacred in my heart. Like the stars that are light years away, Goldfinch is always going to be someone who can cheer me on the coldest night and inspire me.

Love, Galaxy, Universe, Night, Earth

I wanted to see Goldfinch again. I still have this £900 flight booked, but I am certain that I will not be going to Australia any time soon. That’s why I have been singing this emotional ballad, wishing myself wings to fly out to him and remembering all the fun we had together. I think of him all the time.

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: A SONG THAT INCLUDES A NUMBER. This is my second track for today…the song I have been singing all week. A song that always makes me think of Goldfinch.

Sunlight comes creeping in
Illuminates our skin
We watch the day go by
Stories of all we did
It made me think of you
It made me think of you

Under a trillion stars
We danced on top of cars
Took pictures of the stage
So far from where we are
They made me think of you
They made me think of you

Oh lights go down
In the moment we’re lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly
For the rest of our lives

I’m in a foreign state
My thoughts they slip away
My words are leaving me
They caught an aeroplane
Because I thought of you
Just from the thought of you

Oh lights go down
In the moment we’re lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly
Oh damn these walls
In the moment we’re ten feet tall
And how you told me after it all
We’d remember tonight
For the rest of our lives

If these wings could fly

Oh lights go down
In the moment we’re lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly
Oh damn these walls
In the moment we’re ten feet tall
And how you told me after it all
We’d remember tonight
For the rest of our lives

There Are Nine Million Bicycles In Beijing

Beijing, Hutong, Bike, Asia, China, OldJim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: A SONG THAT INCLUDES A NUMBER.

One song came instantly to mind. I get lost in the dreamy voice and lyrics in this Katie Melua track. When I read the lyrics, they are quite simple really…a simple poignant love song with a sweet endearing voice to set them off.

When I think of this song, I think it is saying there are some big things we can’t get our heads around. We hear these huge numbers, nine million, twelve billion, six billion and it is so easy to feel lost, to feel small, to feel overwhelmed.

Fatigued, Young, Laptop, BeautifulBut what sometimes keeps us focused, anchored, reassured is the connection we feel with just one other person. When other things seem hard to understand and comprehend, the simple fact of loving sometimes keeps us more rooted, more real, more orientated, than the information overload we are exposed to everyday. All those facts and figures about the world often pale into insignificance, and the love in our life (whether than be romantic or familial or through friendships) is all that seems to matter.

Maybe I have misinterpreted this song or read too much into it, but that is what it says to me. I am always learning about love.

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That’s a fact,
It’s a thing we can’t deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die.

We are twelve billion light years from the edge,
That’s a guess,
No-one can ever say it’s true
But I know that I will always be with you.

I’m warmed by the fire of your love everyday
So don’t call me a liar,
Just believe everything that I say

There are six BILLION people in the world
More or less
and it makes me feel quite small
But you’re the one I love the most of all

We’re high on the wire
With the world in our sight
And I’ll never tire,
Of the love that you give me every night

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That’s a Fact,
it’s a thing we can’t deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die

And there are nine million bicycles in Beijing
And you know that I will love you till I die!
