Chasing The Rain

rocking the rainIt was raining in England for most of June and in Australia it is winter. But I never go anywhere without an umbrella and I rock hats, so I am alright with the blustery cool drizzly weather. I seem to be chasing the rain…or is it chasing me?

Rainy days mean being indoors a bit more, which allows a little time to see if I can figure out how to knock up a post on my tablet.

It’s not as easy as on the lap-top. This entire post has tested my patience to the limit! But these are fun questions from the lovely Melanie, the creator of sparksfromacombustiblemind, for this week’s SHARE-YOUR-WORLD:

 Questions:

What do fish do all day?   What thoughts do you think they have?  (Credit to the awesome Teresa and her Fibbin’ Fridays for this one)

They practice their French kissing. You see goldfish (a bit like goldfinches) are actually very romantic when they want to be. But they don’t like an audience. They are shy that way. When all the humans disappear the little fish are up to all sorts of steamy stuff.

What celebrity would you have as a SPOUSE, if you HAD to choose?

Hmm. I could just say Jack, because we are on the same page in so many ways. But after everything that happened, I don’t think that would ever happen.

I have always had a soft spot for David Jason. I am sure he is quite a bit shorter than me, and of course older than me. But I like his personality/character. Are you asking who David Jason is? He is a very much loved British actor, who starred in several popular sitcoms, including “Only Fools And Horses”.

Who else? Hmm…this is a hard one. It would have to be someone with a lovely personality and endearing qualities, like humility and modesty. Someone who did not flash their cash, nor milk their fame.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever broken?

It is hard to describe. It was a fine china jug with a giraffe. This was not it, but it reminds me of it.

It was my first ever role as a housekeeper. When I started, the principles had said to me that they knew accidents can happen and I must not worry, but that if I ever broke anything I should go to them immediately and tell them.

Well, one day I was cleaning while my employers were in the same room as I was. There was a brand new jug on the window sill that I had never seen before. I made the mistake of picking it up by the handle. The handle snapped right off. I turned around and showed them what had happened. The lady of the house burst into tears and ran upstairs. The gentleman of the house fetched some superglue and went about repairing it. He reassured me, but commented that if anything was broken it had to be the brand new china. He also told me not to worry, it was far too expensive for my wages to cover it. He reminded me never to pick anything like that up by the handle.

When was the last time you slept more than 9 hours in a stretch?  Why?

asleepIt’s not unusual for me to sleep for more than nine hours. Since I received my head injuries, I find I can sleep a very long time.

Normally I need to get up for work or some thing I have arranged. I have to set several alarms to wake up in the morning. If I do not set an alarm, I can sleep for twelve hours easily. Not long ago, I slept for fifteen hours. But rare are the days when I don’t have to wake up for something.

An Attitude of Gratitude!

Share something you were really grateful for this year (so far):

I am glad that we had a very beautiful spring. It came at just the right time for me. I was missing Goldfinch, I had lost my little apricot, I found out a close family member had cancer. It was so good that spring came and brought such beauty and delight. Summer is a bit of a wash out so far, but I guess it is early days!

Well…I suppose it is rain that helps to make the spring and summer so beautiful really…I should be grateful for the rain!

  1. Thanks Mel for finding a few moments to do “Share Your World.” You have a beautiful outlook and I think it’s very valuable to share, especially because many of us are so gloomy. Thank you again! 🙂
