Throbbing With Life And Excitement

The WORD OF THE DAY today was riparian.  A word I have never heard of before.  I had to look up the definition and learnt that it means:

“relating to or situated on the banks of a river”

Very kindly the wonderful Tales from the mind of Kristian rigged up a post for me to showcase my poem:

But I had this song in mind as well.  I was just watching it because I always loved this song, my Dadda loved this film when I was growing up.

However, it was so strange watching as the camera swings around and there you see the two enormous towers of the World Trade Center.  Normally I don’t think I would have posted this video, but I have read about two hundred different posts from bloggers remembering “the day the modern would changed” or “the day we lost our innocence”…as many bloggers have described it, and it has been fascinating and deeply moving to read the personal accounts of some who were right there on the day.

It was undoubtedly one of the worst events we have witnessed in our life-time and I do think it is appropriate that so many have remembered and recorded their sentiments.

But as in the case of the incidents we have seen here in London, there is something incredibly special about people and their extraordinary spirit to overcome horrendous challenges.  New York today is as it always has been, throbbing with life and excitement. A tremendous testimony to the ability people, families and communities have to heal.

Despite the unthinkable events of 2001…New York is still that incredible…

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothing you can’t do
Now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you

Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York

All I see is River

Crashing on it’s crazy course

Ever onwards, on forever

With such fervour, with such force

But there is sun…there is moon

                Verdant meadow, windswept dune

            Shimmering dusk, starlit sky

                    Scented forests, mountain high

                Ravaged hilltops, rugged moor

                                Rainbowed flowers, trees galore

                        Dazzling deserts, sweetest breeze

                    Frosted lakes, majestic screes

        Hear the music, nature sings

                Sunsets tremble, daybreak rings

Hum of life, whisper of shore

                            Lullaby ocean, mighty roar

But all I hear…is River

Crashing in its crazy course

Ever onwards, on forever

With such fury, with such force

So, to God I raise my prayer

Help me notice they are there

Before my spirit starts to wither

Slow down the course of this crazed River
