I Just Want To Protect You

I heard some say something odd the other day. It is odd. Very odd. They expressed their opinion, or belief, that it is alright for humans take whatever they want or need from this planet and creation, because in their words “earth is hell, life on earth is just a test we need to survive”.

How bizarre. How utterly bizarre. To me, and I am sure to many others – life on earth is a wondrous, beautiful, loving gift – magnificent on so many levels. Yes, there are challenges, and most of these seem to be caused by imperfect people. But earth – planet earth – is a stunning jewel, teaming with exquisite creatures reveling the imagination of an extraordinary artist.

I want to live on this earth forever. I want to protect and cherish this breathtaking home and the astonishing creatures we share it with. Since I was a little girl – my heart has been particularly wrapped up in the ocean and whales. If I had a completely free choice of how to spend my day every day (if I was without the commitments and responsibilities I have become entangled with) I would be out there researching and protecting whales. How they have suffered from people who think they can just take whatever they want from this planet and creation. I would love to think of them as safe and thriving always.

Change Of Focus

Do not let the stress and anxiety and uncertainty over this political economic system swallow you up. Shift your focus away from what humans have made. Look at what they have not made.

Beach, Sun, Evening, Summer, Sea

Look at the extraordinary systems in place on this planet – the water cycle, the nitrogen cycle and the interchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between plants and animals. Look at the way this planet recycles and renews.

Look at the evidence that we are not just meant to exist, to survive….but we are meant to live, to really live, to thrive!!! The vast variety of colour, flavour, beauty that is beyond all human imagination.

Shift your eyes away from the concrete jungles, the neon advertising, the virtual world mankind has used to amass more and more. Look at all the displays and performances that you have never once been asked to pay money for. The spectacular sunsets, the star lit skies, the chorus of birdsong adorning the morning, the bouquet of perfumes as spring flowers burst forth.

Please dwell on the what is a gift to you and me – a beautiful home that we were designed for. The corruption and the injustice is about to be swept clear away. May your heart beat for the treasure that awaits…

My Walk Home

Sunset, Sunrise, Field

I am not sure which was more wonderful on my walk home from work tonight. Was it the harmonious choral symphony from my local feathered neighbours? Was it the fragrant perfumes from trees heavily laden with blossom that graced every breath I inhaled? Was it the cool breeze that refreshed me after a long day on my feet with my and body wrapped up in PPE?

I don’t know what it was…but it made my heart soar. Work can be hard, but I am enjoying it because I am making a difference to people. Making a difference to people is a wonderful thing. But I leave work tired. After a fifteen minute walk my heart is brimming with gladness that I live on such a beautiful planet. I no longer feel tired by the time I reach home.

I am going to eat some salad for dinner, have a shower…and then I am going to watch Masterchef. I am sure I will have sweet dreams and sleep well tonight. My mind and heart are lifted by the wonders I see on my way.

Bursting Into Life

Spring Background, Cherry Blossoms, SkyI was walking to work yesterday when blossom from the cherry trees that line are avenue started to rain down upon me and I found myself adorned with white petals like confetti.

Creation provides so much wonderful, no matter what the challenge, so much beautiful – it helps me to forget the world and think about what really counts.

When I have more time and more energy, I mean to write about some of the unhelpful opinions and ideas that are floating around the internet. In the meantime, protect your mind and heart by observing the wonders of creation….from your window or garden. Here in the northern hemisphere, everything is bursting into life. Or just lay still and listen to the birds singing.

I am on my way to work again…but first of all, the bakery at the end of the road for my dark sourdough loaf. I realized this week that none of the local bakeries are using their slicers. People have to buy a whole loaf and slice it at home (which makes a mess). But my loaf comes already sliced because it is made by an external supplier. On

A Song Of Relief

WordPress informs me this is post 1337.

I know somebody explained once why this is a significant number. Yay! Party!

This is Teresa’s writing prompt for today…and below the picture are the thoughts that ran through my mind. I am too tired to make it creative! Forgive me! But I did want to write about how I feel seeing this photograph.

https://maplesswanderer.wordpress.com/2020/02/18/daily-writing-prompt-feb-18/

I love my planet so much. I love it’s creatures large and small. Since I was a little girl I have been fascinated by whales in particular. I dream of being in the ocean as a gigantic blue whale appears. People ask what would I love to do if money were no object. I would love to build a boat and sail around the world in it, meeting people all over the planet. But whilst at sea, I would love to study whales.

Imagine my dismay and pain of heart when I started to see footage broadcast through the BBC Blue Planet II. Beautiful marine creatures washed up on shore, their insides tangled up with plastic.

I long for a clean sweep for this earth. I long to wake up and find that the entire world system has been dissolved. Nobody is allowed to be so selfish that they would turn the incredible phenomenons of nature around them into a chance to become filthy rich. Humans will spread out all over the earth and be assigned land to take care of. They will be allowed to take what they need instead of greedily hoarding.

It pains me that earth’s creatures, human and animal are abused today. There will come a time when we will thrive! All creation shall sing a song of joy and relief. We cannot remember the corrupt greedy industrial conglomerates of old. The economic extremes, the mass stripping of earth’s resources and the dumping of harmful waste are all a distant memory.

We are those who love life, love creation and have realized that when you take more than you need in order to gain wealth and luxuries…you are contributing to a system that is poisoning our planet.

Live simply, don’t take more than you need…live forever!

What Will You Do With Yours?

What do you think I am describing below?

  • You have one, I have one. But I have never seen mine, and you have probably never seen yours.
  • It weighs about three pounds (1.4 kg)
  • Most people have only used about one billionth of it’s potential capacity within their lifetime.
  • It has been described to as “the most complex thing we have yet discovered in our universe”?

The human brain! It is markedly different from the brain’s of other animals on this planet. One capacity that the human brain has to a superior degree is that of creative imagination.

I have been tagged by Rory, the creator of A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip! for a “3.2.1 Qiuote Me!” challenge on a remarkable theme: CREATIVE IMAGINATION, as you can see from his post below:

THERE IS A UNIVERSE INSIDE YOUR HEAD!

I was reading an article about a brain expert, who teaches at a university in England. He has been studying the human brain for fifty years. Some of his explanations where a bit overly technical for me, but he did make it clear that the human brain has an extraordinary capacity and potential. I will simplify his explanation:

“The human brain has many billions of neurons, which communicate with one another … a single neuron may make many thousands of connections with other neurons…. The total number of connections in the brain is astronomical!”

There is a universe inside your head!

The possibilities are enormous. Look at the incredible diversity of creative ideas reflected by different bloggers. We all have a different flair, a different take on the word prompts and writing challenges.

I think it’s wonderful to have at least one medium – whether it is art, music, poetry, story-writing – to develop and explore that remarkable feature of the human brain – imagination – ideas – that lead to creation. It is something that it is worth giving ample time to, because it is very rewarding to imagine and create. This ability makes humans very very special. How we use our imagination and what we go on to create may have a massive impact on our future.

creative imagination

I was looking for a quote I heard many years ago, but I could not find it, so I went with the one above instead. But the quote I remembered was referring to the mind of the Creator and his exquisite imagination.

I think many of us do know that spending some time out in nature is incredibly good for us. Beholding spectacular mountain views, magnificent sunsets, being inspired by starry skies, the rainbow of colours that erupt in the spring-time….there are so many gloriously beautiful scenes all around us in creation, or if you prefer, nature. Whether you believe that a mind, full of imagination, is behind those scenes or not, I am sure you will agree it is really good for us to be able to soak up the great outdoors.

I don’t think many of us are living the way we were designed to. Currently we live in a system that often turns us into the proverbial hamster running endlessly round and round the same old routine.

I see people travelling on the tube here in London and they look uninspired and tired. For many, life revolves around work, their phone, TV, and a host of other man-made things, that seem to distract them from using their own imagination and thinking about the stunning beauty of this earth, the beauty all around us that is not at all man-made.

I find that the world that man has built seems to stifle something deep inside of me. I rebel against it frequently. I need nature, creation. I don’t watch much TV, but I love a good documentary about creation like BBC’s “The Blue Planet” series.

I have just watched an incredible five minute video on a website I frequently visit because it inspires and educates me. The video is about light and colour – it humbled me to think how extraordinary creation is. It explained the phenomenon of iridescence. Although the technical explanation was impressive and made me admire the ingenuity of the designer, yet again I was in awe of the sheer beauty that this design feature produces. I believe it speaks volumes about the mind, the imagination that came up with these ideas and created countless ingenious and spectacular “things” which don’t pollute the air and water and do not block out the light from the stars.

For me, the greatest creative imagination is evident in what has not been man-made, but is displayed generously throughout our home planet. I truly believe that we should all make ample time to consider the marvels of creative imagination that are all around us.

A friend told me I am a left-brainer, and I have to admit her explanation sounded very plausible, although I am sure I do have two halves of my brain. But I do agree that I have a brain that is more wired towards maths and science and being organized and practical etc.

I am not very good at art or anything particularly creative. However, I love creation. My sister brought some things down from my flat on the other side of London recently. I found in one box a stack of note-books which I had decorated myself with pictures I had cut out of travel brochures and wildlife magazines.

That is just about as creative as I have ever been. But for years I used to make my own cards too in a similar style, because buying cards was so expensive. I sent a lot of letter and cards.

And…

…because ever since I started to think about the word imagination…I have been thinking about this song:

Thundering And Lightning…Very Very Frightening

ligteningFrightening to some…in all honesty not to me. Instead, I feel a rush of excitement…I want to yell out loud, “Come on!”

I do love a good thunder storm…especially if I am inside the cosy warmth of my bed, watching through my window as the sky lights up.  I then count seconds for roaring rumbles of thunder to follow.  Somebody told me when I was a little child, that each second you count is equivalent to a mile.  It tells you how close the lightning is.  I have no idea if that is actually true, but it has moved me to count seconds between lightning and thunder ever since!

After all the warm weather, we had some terrific thunder and lightning shows in London during the past few weeks.

I read an article recently which gave some examples of “natural phenomenon” which are not only inspiring but are not fully understood by humans. Lightning was one of the subjects discussed.

There was a very interesting quote from Compton’s Encyclopedia: “Lightning produces significant chemical changes in the atmosphere. As a stroke moves through the air, it generates tremendous heat that unites nitrogen and oxygen to form nitrates and other compounds. These compounds fall to the Earth with the rain. In this way, the atmosphere is able continually to help replenish the supply of nutrients that soil needs to produce plants.”

I am not frightened by lightning.  I am awe-struck!  Power on a scale that makes all human endeavour look feeble and transitory.  It makes me want to run out into the rain and cry for joy that such a miraculous and spectacular process is taking place right before my eyes!

One of many incredible aspects of the planet I live on that excite me and fill me with wonder.  I think it would be easy for me to write countless posts about the marvels of creation.
