Jim Adams aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: SONGS BY AN ARTIST OR GROUP THAT WERE FEATURED ON THE COVER OF ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE
Well, thanks to Jim I have now made myself familiar with the cover of the Rolling Stars for the past sixty years…and I have one of those photographic memories that is leaving me wondering how this information will ever be useful. Sigh. But for today, it is great to have such a huge choice of artists. Lots of very good choices.
But the one that jumped out to me from the very long lost where a group who recorded a track that I just happened to be singing to Jack last weekend. The group are Heart. Ann and Nancy Wilson appeared on the front cover of Rolling Stone in May 1980, which is before I was ever born. I understand that Heart are a band who have had a long succession of members who have come and gone, with the Wilson sisters being perhaps the most constant and recognisable band members.
The track I have chosen was released over a decade after they appeared on the front cover of Rolling Stone, and I was amazed to read that it reached Number 39 in the Billboard Hot 100. Well, they must have played it on the Radio a lot when I was a child because this song is deep in my musical memoirs and I have always loved it. I was singing it to Jack because…well, read the lyrics and you will see!
Personally…I love the way the track erupts at 2:40…but please do listen to it all if you are not familiar with this recording. It is super!!!
I'm lying beside you just thinking about us Too tired to go to sleep and too much in love I know I'm crazy but I can't close my eyes I'm scared you won't be there in the morning when I rise Will you be there? Who do you dream about are you alone in your sleep? To who will you reach out? Oh, let it be me Oh baby, you're my obsession, my addiction, my drug Don't want to be without you when I wake up Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when I want you? Will you be there when I wake up, Oh I need you to be there in the morning Will you be there? Well, you're so close to me but I feel so alone The more I touch you the more I want Don't know what to do about me loving you but I pray to God that you feel it too You're my obsession, my addiction, my drug, so let the candle grow into a great fire of love Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when I want you? Will you be there when I wake up? I need you to be there in the morning! I wanna love you forever, Don't want a love that's now or never Can't you see you got me down on the floor. I want more MORE! Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when I want you? Will you be there when I wake up? Will you be there in the morning? Will you be there? Written by: Robert John Lange
