While Jim Adams is on holiday, Fandango, the creator of This That And The Other, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY. This week we have the theme: ONE HIT WONDERS

I love this theme, but I think I have met the dilemma some other bloggers mentioned last week, chart success has not always been the same on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Yes, Jim’s themes have proven that the UK definitely has better taste in music if we really needed to settle that issue (lol – don’t all complain at once about that remark!)
I looked at lists the internet songs of one-hit wonders and realized they were all based on the US charts, so I have tried to pick a track that I think may truly have been a one-hit wonder…or as lose to one as any!
This song is so familiar though – all because it was in the score of the film Dirty Dancing. Bruce Channel’s “Hey! Hey Baby” is a little piece of pop perfection. I think I read the same harmonica-player was featured in “Love Me Do” by The Beatles.
Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl When I saw you walking down the street I said that's a kind of girl I'd like to meet She's so pretty, Lord she's fine I'm gonna make her mine, all mine Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl When you turned and walked away That's when I want to say C'mon baby, give me a whirl I want to know if you'll be my girl Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl When you turned and walked away That's when I want to say C'mon baby, give me a whirl I want to know if you'll be my girl Hey, hey hey baby! I want to know if you'll be my girl Hey, hey hey hey hey, baby C'mon, baby now Written by: Bruce Channel and Margaret Cobb
