I Saw Her Swimming There

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: BEACH/SURF/SWIMMING

I was entirely tempted to feature The Beach Boys, who seem to embody this theme, but I wanted to feature something a little different. The song I opted for, well, apparently the artist has disabled his videos from being played – which seems a little counterproductive and sadly disqualifies him from being part of Song Lyric Sunday. So instead, I chose a song from a band that wrote one of my favourite ever songs.

This is another of their songs…and some people are crazy for it. These lyrics, they capture something achingly emotional. I love Snow Patrol for doing that. In some ways, this is a simple song, but for Snow Patrol fans, this is one of the songs that hooked them. The track is called “An Olive Grove Facing The Sea”. The reason we love it – it touches on those aches we feel at times.

I have tagged a video of them performing at The Royal Albert Hall at the end of this post.

Sworn to secrecy, I might go after school
She was an angel, I saw her swimming there
I am in such a mess, I can't cope without this
She just teases, me pretends she can't see me here

So let me go out there
I can breathe fresh air
Stay with you all night
Just let me love you
Just for a while, want to
Be with you all night
Be with you all night
Until I fall asleep
Until I fall asleep
Until I fall asleep
Until I fall asleep
Just let me be here
I won't tell anyone
Don't want to wake up
Don't want to wake up

The blind lead the blind so why can't I find my way
This could be heaven but I don't know where I am
I am too scared to come out from behind here
My body is aching, it feels like it's wearing me

So let me go out there
I can breathe fresh air
Stay with you all night
Just let me love you
Just for a while, want to
Be with you all night
Be with you all night
Until I fall asleep
Until I fall asleep
Until I fall asleep
Until I fall asleep
Just let me be here
I won't tell anyone
Don't want to wake up
Don't want to wake up
