You Can’t Help Someone Recover After What You Did

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CAN’T/DON’T/SHOULDN’T/WON’T

There has been a song on my mind for weeks, and I have been waiting for an opportunity to feature it. At last here is my chance!! The song I have chosen has been described as a “conceptual masterpiece”. Two musicians from two different bands randomly met in a cafe in Camden and worked on this song, and an album together. The collaboration was short lived (a couple of possible explanations for that), but this song will be remembered for a long long time.

Orchestra, Statue, Sculpture, Landmark

“Yes” is a track that makes an impression right from the start! You know something great is coming. But David McAlmont packs in emotive vocals which set this track out amidst the “Britpop” era in which it was released. They are accompanied by an orchestra….only adding to the phenomenal impact this track had.

Some of you will know this track already, but if you have never heard it…get ready for one of the stand out songs from the Britpop craze – this is “Yes” from McAlmont and Butler.

So you wanna know me now, how I've been
You can't help someone recover after what you did
So tell me am I looking better? Have you forgot
Whatever it was that you couldn't stand about me, about me, about me?

Because, yes, I do feel better
Yes, I do, I feel alright
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do
With what you got to offer

So you wanna know me now, how I've been
You can't help someone recover after what you did
So tell me am I looking better? Have you forgot
Whatever it was that you couldn't stand about me, about me, about me?

Because, yes, I do feel better
Yes, I do, I feel alright
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do
With what you got to offer
Yes, I do feel better
Yes, I do, I feel alright
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do
With what you got to offer

On and on and on and on and on and on and has no-one said
"Stay away, stay away"?
I'm better, better
Ye-e-e-e-es
Ye-e-e-e-es
Ye-e-e-e-es
Ye-e-e-e-es
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you go
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got..
