Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: FATE/FORTUNE/LUCK

Well…if here is one song with mention of “fate” that really does make me smile it is the mighty “Waterloo” from pop sensations ABBA. This song has fun written all over it!!
I don’t think anyone can compete with ABBA when it comes to making an internationally and instantly recognised iconic pop song about a historical battle. I believe this was THE song that made ABBA famous, perhaps due to it being part of the Eurovision Song Contest.
I love this stomper of a song. On the first construction project I ever worked on, a clever friend of mine rewrote the words and turned this into a tribute to the site portaloo.
My, my, at Waterloo Napoleon did surrender
Oh yeah, and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way
The history book on the shelf
Is always repeating itself
Waterloo – I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo – promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo – couldn’t escape if I wanted to
Waterloo – knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo – finally facing my Waterloo
My, my, I tried to hold you back but you were stronger
Oh yeah, and now it seems my only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose
Waterloo – I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo – promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo – couldn’t escape if I wanted to
Waterloo – knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo – finally facing my Waterloo
So how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose
Waterloo – couldn’t escape if I wanted to
Waterloo – knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo – finally facing my Waterloo
Waterloo – knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo – finally facing my Waterloo
Waterloo – knowing my fate is to be with you
