They’re Way Too Stupid

Man, Silly, Funny, Crazy, Weird, Odd

I have a second song today for SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY, this time on the latter half of this week’s theme: STUPID. Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: SMART/STUPID

I have chosen a song that I loved as a teenager, and you will probably notice by the lyrics that it encapsulates teenage angst and frustration in a terrific Britpop package. When I told Jack I wanted to feature this song, he thought it might catch on as an election song. I don’t know what he could possibly mean!

This is Echobelly, a band that deserve to be credited amongst the cream of Britpop, and this is their little explosion of a song, “Go Away”. For everyone feeling frustrated with all the rhetoric doing the rounds!

Here it comes the fools parade
Another clueless masquerade
And they’re way too slow
A waste of space
Yes they’re way too slow
Get out of the way

Go away
In my way
Go away
In the way oh

Here we go a suckers ride
Hearts and minds are paralyzed
And they’re way too stupid
They’ll be just fine
Yes they’re way too stupid
A waste of time
Everybody’s looking for something
Everybody’s looking for clues
And they’re way too late
They missed the news
And they think they’re great
With their [messed] up points of view

Go away
In my way
Go away
In the way oh

All because you thought for yourself now
Naughty girl you thought for yourself now

Go away
Go away

    1. Yes I think you are right. They were one of the Britpop bands – and there were many of them. I think Oasis were the main Britpop band that had some popularity in the US, but there were lots of bands in their category that kicked out some great music.
