Celebrating Fifty Years Of Love BETWEEN Two Special People

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: ABOVE/BELOW/BETWEEN.

New Year'S Eve, Celebration, PartyI am stretching the theme to accommodate a song I really wanted to use today. (I know there have been a few ignoring the theme completely in recent weeks, but please forgive me for my song choice today…it is a very special day!) I have chosen this song because it is about the love BETWEEN two people. Today Jack and I are away celebrating a 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary in my family!!! Yayyy!!!

I am stoked about the Golden Anniversary, and even more stoked that Jack is sharing it with us. This time last year, I would never have imagined Jack being with me and my family on a day like today!

I did think of using the famous “Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong”, but when I realized it did not feature the word ABOVE as I had thought it would, and that the gorgeous Joe Cocker song was not one that was personal to my relations, I decided to choose something that is very personal to them.

luvIn the world we live in, fifty years of marriage, along with a little empire of children and grandchildren is something that is worth celebrating…so we are having a party!!! An outdoor party! We just hope the weather is kind. If the heavens ABOVE do open and begin to rain down on us, we have a backup plan. We have a large roll of transparent heavy duty plastic (used in construction as a vapour barrier) that we will fix over the garden so we can carry on the party BELOW our makeshift canopy.

The following song is the love song that means so much to our Golden Couple. This is the Jennifer Rush recording of the sensational track “The Power Of Love“, which I have chosen because it captures the love BETWEEN a remarkable couple and it is a song (and a video) that holds a deeply personal meaning to them.

The whispers in the morning
Of lovers sleeping tight
Are rolling by like thunder now
As I look in your eyes
I hold on to your body
And feel each move you make
Your voice is warm and tender
A love that I could not forsake

‘Cause I am your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I’ll do all that I can

Even though there may be times
It seems I’m far away
Never wonder where I am
‘Cause I am always by your side

‘Cause I am your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I’ll do all that I can

We’re heading for something
Somewhere I’ve never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I’m ready to learn
‘Bout the power of love

The sound of your heart beating
Made it clear suddenly
The feeling that I can’t go on
Is light years away

‘Cause I am your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I’m gonna do all that I can

We’re heading for something
Somewhere I’ve never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I’m ready to learn
‘Bout the power of love

Ooh The power of love
The power of love

    1. The first time I heard this song it was Celine Dion’s recording. But that was when my Dadda introduced me to Jennifer Rush’s version which he adored and it had a very personal connection to he and my mumma.

  1. I have never heard that song. Interesting. Wikipedia says it was a hit just about everywhere except here in the US. Apparently Celine Dion covered this song; I haven’t heard that either, but that’s normal since I avoid Celine Dion like the plague.
