Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CLEAR/DARK/LIGHT
I am working on another new novel. This one is about coming out of a dark place and seeing things more clearly. It is about someone who brings light and hope to your life. But then…there is a dramatic twist!! No more spoilers from me. But I am really getting into this whole novel writing malarkey. I can write and write and write. This new book is after I wrote 70,000 words in a month and realized it was a much needed inspirational story of how someone can recover from being utterly shattered.
This is a special song to Jack and myself. I thought I had explained why in a previous post..and although it took me almost an hour, eventually I found it. This was what I had written:
This song holds some very personal memories! A very moving performance from a choir of volunteers for a charity fundraising show. My flatmates Marta and Suzie were in that choir. I was cheering them on. That song is very hard to sing!
And…the night that Jack gave me a lift back from a party, and hardly said a word to me for the entire journey. It was excruciating! Finally he turned the radio on…and this show-stopping tune came on. When we arrived back at our abode, he jumped out of the car, ran round to my side and opened the passenger door for me and took my hand, as I tried to get out of his tiny little sports car without making a fool of myself.
I was in shock. I could not understand back then whether he liked me or disliked me. It was all so intense! So much makes sense now! So much makes sense!
Anyway…today’s SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY is a wonderful opportunity to include a wonderful song, with a special memory for Jack and I.
I’ll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You’ve been the only thing that’s right
In all I’ve done
And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we’ll make it anywhere
Away from here
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I’ll be right beside you, dear
Louder, louder
And we’ll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can’t raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbyes
I nearly do
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I’ll be right beside you, dear
Louder, louder
And we’ll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can’t raise your voice to say
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I’ll be right beside you, dear
Louder, louder
And we’ll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can’t raise your voice to say

I’ve never heard this one before, although I like Snow Patrol’s original.
Wait… which one came first?
(I looked it up, Snow Patrol did)

I remember loving the Snow Patrol version very well.
One of neighbours has had a lot to do with Leona’s career…and so we are like to give her a mention when we can:

Thanks Christine. I need to make time to edit it before publishing. That is sometimes more time consuming than writing.

Yes, and then you’ll begin rewriting and it will never end. Arghhhh! ☺️💕

The night when Jack and I were in his car and not talking to each other, and that song came on the radio…my heart was pounding!

Your experience is why we all connect to music so much.

Exceptional! I love her tone! She has a special place in my heart. “Footprints in the Sand” was the song I chose to play for my grand-daughter’s funeral. I can’t listen to any Leona Lewis song without remembering that time almost 12 years ago. This was perfect for SLS today! 🙂

Beautiful voice.
So sorry for your loss Lisa ❤
Even though it be 12 years, I imagine the memories have no faded.

Thanks! It’s okay. I know she is in heaven and now with her sister. My daughter had a stillborn a year ago. But…don’t be sad because she had 3 beautiful girls that are the light of our lives. I believe God has a plan & he needs the angels to heal the world. I’m not real religious but it certainly helps me cope. 😊💜
