Today I woke up to the very happy thought that I have a week-long holiday ahead of me. Yayyyy!!!
Jack is with his parents this weekend, but he is coming to stay for for a few days after he has been able to catch up with his own family (who live at the other end of the country). So I am spending the first day of my holiday doing something I wanted to do for a long time – walking for hours. I am going to take a walk through the beautiful London parks near to my little nest.
I wanted to check out some WordPress posts before I headed out (especially SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY selections) and I came across a post from Iain Kelly, who has very kindly read and reviewed my first book “We Hide What We Hate About Ourselves“:
I am so grateful to Iain, not only for reading Annabelle’s story, when it is not the genre he would usually opt for, but also for publishing a very complimentary review. In my head, my book was kind of chick-lit (I know that’s not very PC) with a sprinkle of grit, so it means so much that Iain has rated it so positively. Iain is also spot-on about the areas I need to give more attention to. I will work on those points – I promise! But I am totally stoked about the very kind comments he made.
Iain Kelly, author of THE STATE TRILOGY, is not only a fabulous fiction writer himself, as I am sure many of you will know, but he also reviews books published by independent and self-published authors. If you have a book that you would like Iain to review, he invites writers to leave him a message so he can take a look at your book.
What parks? Love a good london park!

The rain interfered with the plan! But we did a circular route that took us from along the north side of the Thames and then we crossed at Albert Bridge and walked through Battersea Park, and back up to Vauxhall Bridge. I am hoping there will be some nicer weather during my week’s holiday for longer walks.

Have you come across the capital ring? If you need ideas for walks this is excellent. Here’s a link if it helps https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/walking/capital-ring

I think we have walked sections of the capital ring. I used to walk from Muswell Hill all the way to Richmond, via as many green parks as possible….which was lovely. I also walked from Muswell Hill to Greenwich…not quite as pretty a route, but it was great to explore London. We often walk along the Thames too. I am just south of the river now and like exploring. I have walked a lot around Battersea, Fulham, Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Putney, Richmond. There are some lovely areas.

The part of the capital ring that goes from wandsworth common station through wimbledon common and on through richmond park is delightful too. My world in leafy Dulwich is full of delightful green spaces as well making it worth exploring

I have some friends who live in Dulwich. I have been for dinner a couple of times…but it feels like ages since I have seen them (pre-corona).
When they first moved there, everyone used to say they were in Peckham…and do Del Boy Trotter impressions. But they live in a lovely area.
