Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: BAKING/BREAD/CAKE/PIE/PICNIC
Yayyyyyy! If you had somehow missed the fact that we are in the middle of THE GREAT BLOGGERS’ BAKE-OFF 2020 SUMMER PICNIC, Jim has given WordPress a helpful reminder!
I was torn between a couple of songs, but in the end I have chosen one that I would like to dedicate to Gary, who had the original idea of holding THE GREAT BLOGGERS’ BAKE-OFF! I have very high hopes with regards to Gary’s baking creations for this weekend! High apple pie in the sky hopes!!! Thank you Gary for all the fun and joy your idea sparked!!!
Happy baking everyone!!! We have so much more from the great bloggers of WordPress who have been sending in photos of their amazing BAKING and PICNIC creations!!! It gets better and better!!!
Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around
Just what makes that little old ant
Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can’t
Move a rubber tree plant
But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes
He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your gettin’ low
‘stead of lettin’ go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant
When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall
Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he’d punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin’ that dam
’cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your feelin’ bad
‘stead of feelin’ sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam
All problems just a toy balloon
They’ll be bursted soon
They’re just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop

Didn’t realize Doris Day had done it. I knew Frank Sinatra had, and Bing Crosby I think as well.

The first time I ever heard this song it was DD singing it. We went to see a Pixar movie – either “Antz” or “A Bug’s Life” and they used it in the closing theme. I remember staying in the cinema just so I could listen to the whole song. It is so joyous!

I was expecting the Frank Sinatra version too. Surprising to learn that Doris Day did it too. Either way I love this old song. Thanks for the share Mel. I should send a pic of my coconut cup cakes for the Bake off! 🙂

This song has a very joyous feel to it no matter who sings it.

I keep forgetting we all don’t see the same shows! 😄
Loved ‘LaVerne & Shirley’ growing up! Best friends/roomies who would sing this song to cheer each other up! 😉😊👍

I saw a documentary when she died – not exactly a straightforward career. She was very talented.

I heard that her husband squandered her earnings…but she was an incredibly loyal woman. She is immensely talented, and I truly think she had the most joyous disposition. She could light up any movie.

We sang this song in Glee Club and I sang it to my kids! They loved it despite my off key attempts. Brought Lulu in here to see what’s up. I’m over the moon. ❤
