us2 I was thrilled to see the theme for today’s SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY. Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: JACK/JOHN

Well…I have had to think a little bit out of the box for this one. Forgive me, but there were too many songs telling Jack to hit the road or making fun of him. My Jack would not have liked me to pick one of those.

So, in the end, inspired by our very own love story, I have chosen a duet between another caramel beauty and another Jack. In this case Jack Sacortetti. The caramel beauty is the sensational pop rocket (or pocket rocket) Kylie Minogue.

I have written a lot of posts about the estrangement Jack and I endured for over four years. Music was a factor in the early days especially. (I am sure many have found that music can churn up feelings long after a sad trial.)

iytidty We lived in the same apartment. We went to the same parties. We danced together. We sang together. He sang songs at me. (I thought that’s what he was doing and it turns out that he was.) Music was a part of our lives. When I moved out of the apartment, I could still hear Jack singing in the shower. He would play songs really loud, songs that upset me (like Passenger “Let Her Go“, Adele “Someone Like You“, U2 “With Or Without You” and Olly Murs “Dear Darlin’“).

After I was attacked and fled London so that all those people who had been talking about me and Jack would not know what had happened to me, music continued to taunt me at times. I will never forget my sister Mandy who was excited about Adele’s new album playing me the song “Hello“. I was in floods of tears.

During those painful four years I don’t think I was able to enjoy music as much as I had before. It was often too provoking, it was too sad.

carajacka In a completely unexpected and dramatic twist (although long hoped for) Jack and I were reunited last year. In the space of a month we had spoken on the phone a few times and met up a couple of times, and then when we were sitting in his car, he played a track from Oasis “Wonderwall” and held my hand. He looked at me and repeated the lines “I don’t believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now.” I will never forget that evening. I went straight home and told Goldfinch what had happened.

Well….there you are…another recap on the romantic drama of my life. I chose this song because it captures the estrangement between Caramel and Jack, a time when music was too sad to listen to, and it was safer to listen to silence.
