Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CAKE/GIFT/PARTY/SURPRISE
Well…would you have ever imagined at the start of 2020 that parties would be banned? I am getting used to solo partying. When I had a morning off last week, I put some music on and danced around my hallway – it felt great! Two is company but three’s a party – gatherings of more than two people are out of the question right now. But of course, it is for good reason. We are saving lives! DOn’t forget that. Even when we see high numbers of those falling victim to ..you know… those numbers would be much higher if it were not for the unselfish sacrifices so many are making.
I have to admit…I love parties. So I am looking forward to when it is officially safe to gather with family and friends to enjoy great food, laughter, hugs, some music, dancing and hopefully some karaoke.
In the meantime…”IT’S MY PARTY…AND I WILL CRY IF I WANT TO” from the fabulous Lesley Gore.
It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you
Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone
But Judy left the same time
Why was he holding her hand
When he’s supposed to be mine?
It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you
Play all my records, keep dancing all night
But leave me alone for awhile
Till Johnny’s dancing with me
I’ve got no reason to smile
It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you
Judy and Johnny just walked through the door
Like a queen with her king
Oh, what a birthday surprise
Judy’s wearing his ring
It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you
Oh, it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you
Oh, it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to

Popular song today and I’m ok with it. I could listen to it many times. This was on an Oldie but Goodie LP that my mom had when I was a kid. It played over and over and over again on my own record player. I loved the hand me down records that my mom had! 🙂

Excellent choice for the extended moment we’re living in right now.

It’s strange to think how many parties that would normally take place are not happening. I have a couple of friends who have had to postpone their weddings.
