Downing Street Dilemma

Britain, British, Number, Ten, DowningI just noticed on the BBC News that the UK Prime Minister has been admitted to hospital for tests. They are trying to make sure we understand this is not an emergency, but he is being tested after showing symptoms of …you know… for ten days. They say it is a precautionary step.

I have mentioned before that I am strictly politically neutral. But I do obey laws and pay my taxes. To me the Prime Minister is another human with his own opinions and ideas, who is now in a position of responsibility – I do not envy his role at all.

Anyway…I hope he is going to be alright. He has been working despite being ill. I think he should be allowed to rest up and let his body fight fight fight.

I Have Often Walked Down This Street Before

Thames, London, River, Uk, CityI have lived in my little nest for over three years. It still doesn’t feel like home though. I miss my former home. My heart is up in Hampstead/Highgate/Muswell Hill (home for five years). But…I will have to wait and see what happens with Jack before I quit my current little abode.

Fandango, the creator of This, That, and The Other, has asked us to share some pics of the street where we live (as most of us are confined to barracks at the moment). I thought this was a great idea. You can see other bloggers who are taking part in Fandango’s post below:

I have to admit, I am so security conscious, I don’t feel I can. I live in a very iconic part of London, an area that tourists flock to. I am super-scared of strangers instantly recognising that they have walked down my street before. But I wanted to offer something of the paths I often walk.

So instead, I am going to post some photos I took during one of my walks. When I have an afternoon free, I often walk along the Thames and then, after crossing the river, I head up to my favourite spot in London (Queen Mary’s Garden). So this little montage has photos taken from the South Bank of the river and a couple from the beautiful park that I am missing very much. I hope to be able to visit before summer is over to see the roses there.

Everybody In The House Rock The Party!

Music, Dj, Djpult, Audio, Radio, ConcertWhen I was preparing my SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY post for today, a song kept coming into my head, but I could not place it. It took me ages to find out what I was singing. Memories came flooding back to me of my childhood.

There was this song…well maybe I should call it a track, because there is not much of a song there. At school we absolutely loved it! It had rock guitars, it had an amazing dance beat, it introduced us children to the house and rave scene (which was quite a big thing back in the day). I remember I had a cassette tape (yes I am old enough to remember cassette tapes!) which was some kind of compilation of the year’s biggest hits, and this song was on it. As kids, we went crazy dancing when this track came on.

mizewaIt starts with a mighty: “EVERYBODY IN THE HOUSE – ROCK THE PARTY!” and from then comes pandemonium! You should have seen us dancing as kids to this track! We thought it was brilliant. A great uproar, a hullabaloo, an amalgamation of music influence covergers into a classic house track. You can read more about the link to famous Nirvana riffs online.

Now there are two videos below. Be warned, the first one will make you dizzy. So if you prefer to avoid nausea, choose the second version.

THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO ARE CLEARLY ROCKING “STAY AT HOME” BY THE LOOKS OF ALL THE VIDEOS ONLINE!

THANK YOU FOR STAYING AT HOME!

It’s My Party And I’ll Cry If I Want To

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CAKE/GIFT/PARTY/SURPRISE

paasasyWell…would you have ever imagined at the start of 2020 that parties would be banned? I am getting used to solo partying. When I had a morning off last week, I put some music on and danced around my hallway – it felt great! Two is company but three’s a party – gatherings of more than two people are out of the question right now. But of course, it is for good reason. We are saving lives! DOn’t forget that. Even when we see high numbers of those falling victim to ..you know… those numbers would be much higher if it were not for the unselfish sacrifices so many are making.

I have to admit…I love parties. So I am looking forward to when it is officially safe to gather with family and friends to enjoy great food, laughter, hugs, some music, dancing and hopefully some karaoke.

In the meantime…”IT’S MY PARTY…AND I WILL CRY IF I WANT TO” from the fabulous Lesley Gore.

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you

Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone
But Judy left the same time
Why was he holding her hand
When he’s supposed to be mine?

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you

Play all my records, keep dancing all night
But leave me alone for awhile
Till Johnny’s dancing with me
I’ve got no reason to smile

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you

Judy and Johnny just walked through the door
Like a queen with her king
Oh, what a birthday surprise
Judy’s wearing his ring

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you

Oh, it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too, if it happened to you

Oh, it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to
