THE CARAMEL CRUNCH #11

CARAMEL CRUNCH1

WHEN IT COMES TO THE CRUNCH – WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

You have met someone you really like. There has been some innocent flirting between you and after exchanging phone numbers you have been in contact frequently and been out for a couple of dates. It is still early days though. Your life long best friend tells you that they have met someone and have fallen in love and it turns out to be that same person. Your best friend is a little shy, but they tell you they want to ask the person you have been flirting with out on a date.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

What is THE CARAMEL CRUNCH? Well, it’s all about decisions. When it comes to THE CRUNCH what would you do?

One of the definitions of the word CRUNCH is:

a crucial point or situation

 – generally involving a decision with weighty consequences

  • Your response can be a quickie. Please feel free to send a comment to say what you would do, and if you have time or are inclined, please feel free to explain your decision.
  • If you would like to create a post with a longer explanation of your decision, please pingback to THE CARAMEL CRUNCH post. (Or copy and paste a link to your post in the comments section – please feel free.)

If you know anything about CRUSHED CARAMEL, you will probably realize I am a gentle soul, so my questions are not supposed to be terrifying! What I am hoping for really is to see a variety of responses. Afterall, it’s pretty obvious that WordPress bloggers are from a huge variety of backgrounds and cultures. It would be fascinating to learn more about how we as individuals make decisions.

Some of the questions I am going to ask are questions I have discussed with friends when we have been having coffee or dinner. I often find there is no clear right or wrong. It can be so much a matter of our individual experiences and outlook. I find it fascinating how very different some of us are when it comes to decision making.

We all have different outlooks, and may make different decisions. I am really looking forward to learning WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Questions

What is your way of relaxing when it rains?

waiting for jack3I don’t mind a bit of rain when I am out. This is England, you can’t wait for the rain to stop to live your life. You just make sure there is an umbrella in your bag. But I guess I would tend to choose indoor activities on rainy days. It all depends who I am with 😉

If I was on my own and it was raining so bad that I would be soggy and miserable, I would prefer to be either at home catching up on my housework or hidden in the corner of a coffee shop scrutinising my book with a red pen and sipping a soya cappuccino. Or I would happily spend a rainy afternoon inside one of London’s museums. I still feel I have more exploring to do at The Victoria and Albert Museum.

What is your favorite topic to write about?

I guess it is Jack. I also love writing about:

  • Goldfinch
  • My family
  • People who have inspired me
  • Creation
  • Lessons life has taught me
  • …and a lot of other things that bring me huge joy.

What do you love about nature?

This time of year is starting to become exciting. Colour and life are returning to England slowly but surely. I love the spring and summer months. I am definitely a summer girl.

What I think I love most is that the extraordinary things around me in nature tell me that the man made system that hooks people on satisfying their hunger for pleasure and often goes on to crush a person’s spirit when the pleasure has worn off, is not what we are designed for.

Nature tells me what we were designed for. It fills me with excitement for the future of mankind and all other creatures that share this beautiful planet. Major changes ahead!

What is your favorite type of music?

Oh I like so many genres. I love variety. But if I was stuck on a desert island with only one compilation CD, I would choose sixties music. I never tire of music from the sixties.

What was your favorite place to vacation?

I have enjoyed my travels, but I think the holiday to the North of Sweden was the one that knocked my socks off.

Sunset, Scooter, Snowmobile, BacklightTen of us having fun in the spectacular snowy scenery. We did things we never thought we would have the chance to. Our hosts asked their friends to give us a few surprise treats including a night on snowmobiles, a day sledging with husky dogs, and go-carting on an icy lake.

But seeing the sunrise and turn the white snow into a rainbow of dazzling colour that glittered with joy – those memories of breathtaking scenes have stayed with me for fifteen years!

What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

pixAaaaah sigh! Picnics in a beauty spot with a wonderful man! This is something Jack and I are yet to experience. I am so looking forward to spending summer with him!

I enjoy my life so much more in the summer. I love walking out in the country. I love the sports days my friends arrange – when a huge crowd of families I know turn up somewhere like Regents Park and mayhem ensues! I love swimming in Hampstead Lido. I love visiting the gorgeous seaside towns near family in Wales – places like Aberdyfi.

What is a place where you live that you recommend people visit?

bmI live in London. Where would I recommend people visit? Probably The British Museum. I love it. But make sure you allow time to leave the museum and wander down to somewhere like Covent Garden.

I also love Queen Mary’s Garden in Regents Park, but you need to go in the summer when all the roses are blooming.

Where else? There is so much to see in London. A day out at Hampton Court Palace is pretty special. The huge parks in London such as Richmond Park, Hampstead Heath and Regents Park (if you go to the latter, take a walk up to Primrose Hill for a fabulous view of London) are great to walk around. I like taking friends visiting London to a show at The Royal Albert Hall. I tend to take friends to Sky Gardens rather than The Shard for a drink with a view.

If you want an edible treat go for afternoon tea at one of London’s famous hotels. Speaking of tea – I would recommend Fortnum and Mason if you are a tea enthusiast. There are so many great places to eat in London. Try The Ned for a great feel in the restaurants, or Brick Lane for a curry. There are so many great Turkish, Greek, Lebanese restaurants around North London. Jack loves food from the east end of the Mediterranean.

What is most desired movie to watch? And explain why?

Do I really need to explain why???

It is an utter joy! A masterpiece of cinema! A gorgeous musical that makes you want to burst into song every five minutes. Gorgeous!

What makes you keep dreaming up new ideas for writing?

I don’t know. Life maybe? I am probably inspired by the many people I have interacted with as well as my own experiences.

expsLife is very colourful. There is always a rainbow of subjects to write about. All the people, buildings, gardens, businesses I walk past each day. Anyone of them could become the center of a story really. Sometimes I think I ought to start writing down some of the things that catch my eye to use later.

I don’t seem short for ideas. Sometimes I do lack time though. I have so many ideas that I need to start posts with my idea and then save them in my drafts folder, so that when I have more time I can come back and work on them. I believe there are around ninety draft posts that contain fresh ideas I just have not had time to work on yet.

What is number one sport to play?

bbBasketball. So much fun!

I am not allowed to play it at the moment. I need to be careful about my head. I love playing sports much more than watching sports. But of all the sports I have played, i do think basketball was the most fun.

There were some very talented players in our group of friends, but they made sure that everyone could take part and enjoy the game. They were very generous.

Dogs or cats?

It depends!

cdI do love walking dogs. I think I probably have a softer spot for dogs than I do cats, because many of the dogs I have looked after have had such gorgeous characters. The whole unconditional love thing is adorable. But when a dog has bad breath, when it licks your face, or your feet in the middle of the night, and the mess they can make…I don’t think I could make a commitment to a dog!

Cats can be cool. I have snuggled with a lot of cats on the sofa. Some of them are such divas though. The way they come and they go as if they own the place. Cats like to make sure you know they are in charge I feel. That cool independance. But that does make them much easier to look after than dogs. The one thing I don;t like about cats is when they catch a bird or a mouse and want to play games with it. Maybe not all cats do that, but I have seen several cats toy with their prey. I don’t like it!
