Red Lips And Rosy Cheeks

the loolToday is one of those days when all I want to do is listen to music. Jack wanted to sleep a little longer, so I nipped down to the local supermarket as I had hardly any food in. I am going to do some cooking and bake him a cake this afternoon. We’ll go for a walk when it’s darker outside. Less chance of hassle.

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CHIN/EARS/EYES/FACE/MOUTH/NOSE

I have a second song choice for today. It’s a gorgeous song. Although it doesn’t mention any of the specific words in Jim’s chosen theme, but it does mention lips and cheeks (specifically red lips and rosy cheeks!) – so I reckon it definitely fits today’s theme which has focused on the human face.

I mentioned a while back that a friend of mine deluged me with Taylor Swift songs when she drove me up to Wales. I’d only ever know that song “Shake It Off” before that journey. Although it was too much for me to listen to the same person for hours (aaaaaaagh!) I have found that some of Taylor Swift’s songs have stuck in my head since then.

lool.jpgI find “fandom” a scary thing. My friend seemed a bit obsessed with Taylor. She calls herself a “Swiftie”. Fans can be so scary. (Jack’s fans – some of them are uber-scary as far as I remember their trolling of me.) But I acknowledged that some of Taylor Swift’s songs were great and I am sure she deserves credit as a very talented lady. In a recent post, I mentioned a performance at an award show where she lit up the stage performing a selection of her songs. Well, she missed this one! It;s called Wildest Dreams and it’s an epic song in it’s own right.

The song in this post is one of the Taylor Swift tracks my friend played to me, on that long journey to Wales, that I really liked. I think it is a stunning track and it is such a pleasure to sing it. I have been singing it to Jack…and he seems to like it a lot! He also seems to like it when I attempt the whole red lips look (my cheeks are always rosy when I am with him anyway).

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined things would work out this way between Jack and I. Even if it doesn’t last…I hope he remembers me with my red lips and rosy cheeks, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset with him.

He said, “Let’s get out of this town
Drive out of the city, away from the crowds”
I thought heaven can’t help me now
Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down

He’s so tall and handsome as hell
He’s so bad but he does it so well
I can see the end as it begins
My one condition is

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just in your
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh

I said, “No one has to know what we do”
His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room
And his voice is a familiar sound
Nothing lasts forever but this is getting good now

He’s so tall and handsome as hell
He’s so bad but he does it so well
And when we’ve had our very last kiss
My last request is

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just in your
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh

You see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around

You’ll see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just pretend

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just in your (just pretend, just pretend)
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
In your wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
(Even if it’s just in your wildest dreams) ah-ha
In your wildest dreams, ah-ha

    1. I think I’m with you Bee. Not everything I have heard from her is my cup of tea, but of all the songs my friend played to me on that long drive up to Wales, I know some of the tracks really stood out. She has some great hits.

  1. I never heard of fandom before, so I had to look it up and I found out that it is a subculture composed of fans characterized by a feeling of empathy and camaraderie with others who share a common interest. I am so out of it, but I do enjoy learning new things.

    1. That’s a great definition Jim.

I have to admit, in my own mind I am thinking of those of my friends who seem besotted with one band or musician and seem loyal beyond all reason. I find it hard to understand wanting to listen to hours and hours of the same artist’s music. I love variety. And I also find it strange how much some of my friends seem to want to learn about their favourite musicians personal life. To me the level of preoccupation with celebrities that some seem to show is bizarre. I have seen it very up close with Jack.
I used to open the fan mail for Robbie Williams. We had sacks of post arriving at the office each day. I have some other friends who are involved in entertainment and I know of the challenges they have had when their personal life became their focus more than their professional work.

  2. OK, I’ll admit it, I was mesmerized with the video, with the hunk in the video mostly, and he looked familiar, but I had to double check with imdb.com to confirm that the hottie is none other than Clint Eastwood’s son, Scott Eastwood!

    1. I liked the video. I read it had a lot of criticism for echoing colonialism. There are so many other videos that have things I don’t particularly enjoy – people prancing around in their knickers looking like hookers, violence…
I can’t see why this video would upset people more than a long list of other videos. But maybe it’s just people finding cause to criticise someone who is very successful.
I don’t know….anyway, I loved the track, and liked the video too.
