Then I Saw Her Face

annieIt has been another great day of music for SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY. A huge variety of songs, artists and genres. I reckon that SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY is the best musical menagerie on WordPress.

I have already mentioned that I accidentally sidelines Jack’s choice for this theme and assigned it to last week’s theme. But Jack has thought of a few more songs. I don’t want to list all of them, but this one is a big favourite. I am sure you know and love it too!

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CHIN/EARS/EYES/FACE/MOUTH/NOSE

Smiling WomanI was working with a young woman the other day who asked me so many personal questions, I told her I felt like I was being interrogated. Which made her laugh. One of the questions she asked was “Do you have children?” to which I replied that I don’t. Then she asked my age. I told her and she expressed surprise. She said I looked ten years younger because my face is so girly. I replied, “That’s probably because I don’t have any children.” Which made her laugh even more. Anyway, she is now my favourite colleague. Ten years younger hey! You can interrogate me any time honey!

I told Jack and he loved it. He said he loves my face too. It is a round smiley face that does tend to make me look more like a kid than an adult. Not striking. Not perfect. Just a friendly appealing face, with soft features. I like it. Jack says he loves it.

Personally, I think smiling faces are the most beautiful. Jack makes me smile a lot – so I guess that might be why he is taking a shine to my noggin. So to celebrate my rosy round smiling face, here is one of Jack’s song choices, “I’m A Believer” performed by The Monkees – fabulous!

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me.
Love was out to get me
That’s the way it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.

Then I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I’m in love, I’m a believer!
I couldn’t leave her if I tried.

I thought love was more or less a givin’ thing,
Seems the more I gave the less I got.
What’s the use in tryin’?
All you get is pain.
When I needed sunshine I got rain.

Then I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I’m in love, I’m a believer!
I couldn’t leave her if I tried.

Love was out to get me
Now, that’s the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams

Oh, then I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I’m in love, I’m a believer!
I couldn’t leave her if I tried.

Yes, I saw her face, now I’m a believer
And not a trace of doubt in my mind.
Said I’m a believer
I’m a believer
I’m a believer
Said I’m a believer
I’m a believer
I said I’m a believer
I’m a believer

Red Lips And Rosy Cheeks

the loolToday is one of those days when all I want to do is listen to music. Jack wanted to sleep a little longer, so I nipped down to the local supermarket as I had hardly any food in. I am going to do some cooking and bake him a cake this afternoon. We’ll go for a walk when it’s darker outside. Less chance of hassle.

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CHIN/EARS/EYES/FACE/MOUTH/NOSE

I have a second song choice for today. It’s a gorgeous song. Although it doesn’t mention any of the specific words in Jim’s chosen theme, but it does mention lips and cheeks (specifically red lips and rosy cheeks!) – so I reckon it definitely fits today’s theme which has focused on the human face.

I mentioned a while back that a friend of mine deluged me with Taylor Swift songs when she drove me up to Wales. I’d only ever know that song “Shake It Off” before that journey. Although it was too much for me to listen to the same person for hours (aaaaaaagh!) I have found that some of Taylor Swift’s songs have stuck in my head since then.

lool.jpgI find “fandom” a scary thing. My friend seemed a bit obsessed with Taylor. She calls herself a “Swiftie”. Fans can be so scary. (Jack’s fans – some of them are uber-scary as far as I remember their trolling of me.) But I acknowledged that some of Taylor Swift’s songs were great and I am sure she deserves credit as a very talented lady. In a recent post, I mentioned a performance at an award show where she lit up the stage performing a selection of her songs. Well, she missed this one! It;s called Wildest Dreams and it’s an epic song in it’s own right.

The song in this post is one of the Taylor Swift tracks my friend played to me, on that long journey to Wales, that I really liked. I think it is a stunning track and it is such a pleasure to sing it. I have been singing it to Jack…and he seems to like it a lot! He also seems to like it when I attempt the whole red lips look (my cheeks are always rosy when I am with him anyway).

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined things would work out this way between Jack and I. Even if it doesn’t last…I hope he remembers me with my red lips and rosy cheeks, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset with him.

He said, “Let’s get out of this town
Drive out of the city, away from the crowds”
I thought heaven can’t help me now
Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down

He’s so tall and handsome as hell
He’s so bad but he does it so well
I can see the end as it begins
My one condition is

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just in your
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh

I said, “No one has to know what we do”
His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room
And his voice is a familiar sound
Nothing lasts forever but this is getting good now

He’s so tall and handsome as hell
He’s so bad but he does it so well
And when we’ve had our very last kiss
My last request is

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just in your
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh

You see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around

You’ll see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just pretend

Say you’ll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you’ll see me again
Even if it’s just in your (just pretend, just pretend)
Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
In your wildest dreams, ah-ha oh
(Even if it’s just in your wildest dreams) ah-ha
In your wildest dreams, ah-ha

You Don’t Need That Money With A Face Like That

Jim Adams, aka Newepicauthor, the creator of A Unique Title For Me, is hosting SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY and this week he has chosen the theme: CHIN/EARS/EYES/FACE/MOUTH/NOSE

Well…it turns out that I accidently featured Jack’s song choice for this week’s theme, last week. I had a feeling I had mixed them up. Maybe we didn’t talk about last week’s theme together. I don’t know. Well, that means that today’s theme is all up to me. Yes, thank you Jack, I have been doing this along time all on my own. 😀

band1My song choice is another song I love love love. Listen to the first few bars and that rip-roar sound of the guitar will tell you exactly why! I love the music, more than I love the lyrics. They could be singing about the price of bread for all I care. It is a track that makes me want to get up and swing my hair around and dance like I have ants in my pants.

I really hope you also enjoy the fabulous Jet with their cracking track “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?”

Go!

So 1, 2, 3
Take my hand and come with me
Because you look so fine
And I really wanna make you mine

I say you look so fine
That I really wanna make you mine

4, 5, 6 c’mon and get your kicks
Now you don’t need that money
When you look like that, do you honey

Big black boots
Long brown hair
She’s so sweet
With her get back stare

Well I could see
You home with me
But you were with another man
I know we
Ain’t got much to say
Before I let you get away

I said, are you gonna be my girl?

Well, so 1, 2, 3, take my hand and come with me
Because you look so fine
And I really wanna make you mine

I say you look so fine
That I really wanna make you mine

Oh, 4, 5, 6 c’mon and get your kicks
Now you don’t need that money
With a face like that, do you

Big black boots
Long brown hair
She’s so sweet
With her get back stare

Well I could see
You home with me
But you were with another man
I know we
Ain’t got much to say
Before I let you get away

I said, are you gonna be my girl?

C’mon!

I could see
You home with me
But you were with another man
I know we
Ain’t got much to say
Before I let you get away

Uh, be my girl
Be my girl
Are you gonna be my girl?!
