Well…what a day it was for Annabelle and Robin. They had so much to talk about. Can they really trust each other? Do they have a chance they will be happy again in the future?

Annabelle and Robin were just on time for the last bus back to Blackwood. Robin stroked Annabelle’s hair and back and arms throughout the journey. She lent into him enjoying his touch. He would put a finger into her chin and gently turn her face towards him so that he could kiss her, while tugging at the back of her hair. Even more often he would whisper into her ear, “Where?”
Annabelle’e eyebrows would knot together. She had no answer to that question.
They alighted the bus in Mason Street and walked up Turner Avenue straight to the home of Burt and Pearl. Robin said goodbye to Annabelle outside the front door and then said he would walk back over to Chris’ home.
“How was your day Annie? The weather was beautiful.”
“It was lovely Pearl. We walked all around the lake.”
“How lovely,” smiled Pearl, “Has Robin gone back over to Chris’?”
“Yes, we were both pretty tired.”
“What are your plans for tomorrow then Annie?” inquired Burt.
“We are going to see Ralph at hospital tomorrow.”
“Will you be here for dinner?” asked Pearl.
“Robin was going to ask Chris if we could spend tomorrow evening with him. I think he’s going to call me later to tell me what Chris wants to do.”
Pearl nodded, “That will be nice for you all. Well make sure you two are here for dinner on Friday. That’s our last chance to have him over before Robin’s flight on Saturday morning.”
On the way back over to Chris’ home, Robin found his mind racing with all that Annabelle had told him that day. But there was something else that weighed heavily on his mind. It was something that she had not sad. But for the first time it had clicked in his own mind. Did Annabelle even realize what she had betrayed today? Approaching McCafferey’s Robin decided to turn in for a drink on the way home. He felt he needed it after all that Annabelle had given him to think about.
After his third, he heard a voice that seemed familiar.
“If it isn’t Monty! How are the pigs doing?”
Robin laughed to himself, “The pigs are fine. We have been talking on the phone every day. I’m thinking of buying sweaters for them as winter as coming. I might not have time to knit myself.”
“I told you this guy was a riot,” Jenna giggled as she turned to the two women besides her, “Montgomery Ramsbottom, this is Amber and Margo.”
“Hey Monty. We heard you’re on vacation here. How do you like Blackwood so far?” asked one of the Margo.
“Well it sure is a friendly town.”
“We like to welcome newcomers,” grinned Amber, “give them something to remember us by.”
“I bet you do. Not really a tourist resort this place is it. I guess you want people to keep coming back.”
“So where are you staying Monty?” asked Margo.
“I’m staying with a friend.”
“Anyone we know?” Amber flashed her toothy smile at Robin.
“This seems like a pretty small town. I’m guessing girls like you make sure you know everyone.”
“Would you like some female company tonight?” Jenna placed her arm on Robin’s shoulder.
“Sorry love, you’re too late. I’ve spent the whole day with a very hot blonde. She’s completely knackered me. I’m going to say goodnight to the three of you.” Robin couldn’t get out of the door quickly enough.
On reaching Chris’ home, Robin hoped that he was arriving late enough to miss Chris. wasn’t in the mood for another lecture. But Chris was still up.
“You’re making a habit of this Rob. Annie must be really impressed.”
Robin felt annoyance flood over him. A year ago, when he was at his lowest point he would have already snapped by now. He controlled his emotions though and joked, “Well, it’s been a tough day sport.”
“How is she?”
“You can always call her and ask. Since you two are such great pals.”
“I’m gonna ignore that. I care about Annabelle alright. Aren’t you supposed to be trying to make amends or something this week?”
“Well, she is giving me a hard time alright. It looks as if she and I have a lot to work out. It’s kind of hard to find the privacy to talk around this town.”
Chris’ facial expression made it quite clear he had no sympathy, “Right. I know exactly why you want to be alone with her.”
Robin raised his eye-brow, “so Annabelle was quite keen on coming over here tomorrow night. She has this idea that it would be fun for the three of us to hang out together, either here or to go out somewhere. What do you think Chris?”
“Annie is always welcome here.”
“Good of you to say. I’ll text her and let her know. Well, I’m going to turn in. Are you working tomorrow?”
“Of course. I’ll start early so I can be back for when Annie wants to come over.”
“Great. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it.”
Annabelle reached for her phone as soon as it buzzed. She read the text message from Robin: HAD A CHAT WITH CHRIS. HE SAID HE UNDERSTANDS WE WANT TO BE ALONE AND SAID YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO CUM HERE 😉
“Annabelle decided to use FaceTime to call Robin immediately. “What? You actually asked Chris if I can sleep over.”
Robin was in bed but he propped his phone on his pillow, “I don’t think he wants us shagging next door to him Belle. No, he said he’ll leave early in the morning to give us some space. He seemed quite keen on the three of us hanging out tomorrow night. He’s alright isn’t he?”
“I’m just surprised. I didn’t think he’d be comfortable with that.”
“Well, you can double check with him if you like. Why don’t you text him?”
“Yeah right! What to thank him for letting me have sex in his spare room? I’ll find a way to spoil him at a later date I think Rob.”
“I’ll leave that with you Belle.”
“Well, Chris must like you after all Robin. I’m so pleased.”
“Hey, who wouldn’t love me?”

Kim, the creator of Writer Side of Life has given us some great writing prompts. Several of them appealed to me, but I have only chosen one to work on for now, because I am still playing catch up with blogging, after my trip to Australia:
I chose a prompt under the ROMANCE section: 3. Who is she waiting for?
