Three Things About Me

the team.jpg I love cleaning, especially cleaning my own home, but anywhere will do. I have cleaned to earn my bread and butter and I have cleaned as a volunteer on lots of projects. I have cleaned other people’s homes, offices, schools, catering facilities, medical facilities, sports stadiums and indoor arenas. I have worked with amazng people, made great friends and had so much fun. When I compare the atmosphere of working in an office (sitting on your behind five days a week is so unhealthy) and the spirit that existed when working with a team of cleaners or house-keepers, the highlight being the karaoke tea-breaks we had – oh there is no comparison. I would hate to have to go back to a desk job.

SONY DSC Yesterday I woke up with a lot of head pain. I had some coffee but I felt so ill I couldn’t face breakfast before I started work. At lunch I had a Ryvita with some hummus but still didn’t feel well. But during the afternoon I started to feel a lot better and suddenly felt extremely hungry. On the way home from work I pass two Indian restaurants. I didn’t even make it past the first. I went in and ordered myself a garlic naan bread. It was delicious!

I absolutely love dresses. Love them! Even though I wear trousers for work and for hiking, dresses still take up half of my wardrobe! Life would be so boring without beautiful dresses.

Beckie’s Questions:

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

I wander into the kitchen to take some painkillers. (If anyone who has not read any of my other posts is wondering why, it is because I received severe head injuries a few years ago and I still wake up each morning with intense pain.) Because they are NSAIDs, I need to have them with some food. So, I normally have something very simple like a Weetabix with hot water and some coffee. Then I have to rest until the painkillers are working. After that the day is pain free. Being vertical seems to do wonders for my head.

What is your favourite hobby?

traveler Hiking, especially at this time of year. I do love walking, and I love visiting new areas to walk. The problem with London is that it is too far away from the Late District and North Wales, where I love walking the most.

I took my hiking boots to Australia and hope to tell you all about areas to walk around Adelaide…but I am still trying to catch up with reading other bloggers posts. I am catching up with everything really and trying to get back into the pace of London.

Junk Food Junkie or Health Nut?

salad I am definitely more inclined to be healthy in my food choices. Especially when I have to eat out. When I do my home food shopping, it is only healthy food that goes into my shopping basket. But when I have to buy lunch in town I have to work hard to avoid the bakeries and any fast food restaurants that look as if they sell junk food.. I am so glad that in London there are so many places where you can buy a tasty vegan salad.

I am not vegan, but I have been vegetarian since I was six years old. I love my veggies.

What’s the funkiest food you ever ate?

beckie's cake My friend made a fantastic rainbow cake for a party. I think she must have had a lot of patience to make so many layers.

Funky foods? Hmm. I have had some pretty funky juices and smoothies and cocktails – but I can’t think of many edibles I would call funky, especially as I am a vegetarian.

I had a jackfruit curry one night this week – not really funky too look at, but pretty funky to taste.

Do you favour writing during the day or the evening?

At the moment it is whenever I can. Busy busy busy. I have lots and lots of drafts that I have started in previous months. So there is no shortage of ideas of things to write about. In addition the prompts provided by other bloggers give me more ideas.

I think if I wasn’t snatching at whatever time I have spare at the moment, I probably have more ideas in the morning, but I think I find it easier to work on them during the afternoon. I am starting to feel dozy in the evenings, so I am a bit half-hearted if I end up writing then. But I will say thus…I have been making regular use of the scheduling facility. I write posts and schedule them far in advance of the date they are actually published. But there is a limited time frame with many of the writing posts provided by other bloggers. So sometimes, I re-schedule other posts, postponing their publishing even further ahead.
