Annabelle Riley is the star of a little fictional series I have been working on. You may have noticed I have thrown in a few personal incidents into Annie’s story, but I keep trying to steer it more towards complete fiction. I hope you enjoy this development. These are previous posts:
Somehow during the course of the evening, Chris had managed to persuade Annie to meet him for a coffee the next day. Coffee at Penny’s Pantry turned into breakfast because Annie said she was hungry.
“After all the food you ate last night you are still hungry!”
“Howa wude!” cried Annie, “da means yousa pay for munchy!”
“I was going to pay anyway, because I am a gentleman. I need to practice my Gungan Jar Jar.” laughed Chris, “But I am glad we established you like Star Wars.”
“Who doesn’t like Star Wars? You might not want to be the gentleman when you see how much I eat. I have a healthy appetite. I walk a lot! I’m on my feet all day at work and I have a fast metabolism or something. Besides, it’s never good to drink on an empty stomach.”
“Isn’t that just alcohol?”
“Not at this time in the morning thanks. The coffee is perfect, but really, why would you come into a place like this and ignore the fresh croissants? It wouldn’t be right.”
“I love the smell of fresh pastries or fresh bread.”
“The bakeries are one of the best things about living in New York. We may aswell have been in France. We always had breakfast on the way to work with double shot coffee.” Annie let out a sigh.
“Sounds great. I have never been to New York, would love to go some day.” replied Chris, before he added, “Who’s “we”?”
Annabelle looked at Chris seriously, “He is the love of my life. The best thing that ever happened to me. The man who stole my heart. The most gorgeous man on the planet.”
“The second most gorgeous man on the planet I think you mean, you forgot present company.”
Annabelle poked her tongue out at Chris, “yousa has sucha big head.”
“I see, she only throws insults in Gungan. Ok wait a minute, I think I need Google Translate to help me out here,” Chris pulled out his phone and started typing before he looked at Annabelle and said, “isa no da on part of missa da is huge.”
Annabelle looked confused, “I speak Gungan better than I understand it.”
Chris showed Annabelle his phone. Annie pulled a face, “you’re feet?”
“Nope.” Chris put his hands on his belt and started to undo his belt, “I can show you if you like.”
“Whoa whoa whoa! Christopher Ward, you said you are a gentleman!”
Chris laughed. “You look like you need more fun Annie.”
“I know you are only messing about, but seriously Chris, please don’t get any ideas. I wouldn’t have agreed to come if I thought you were going to flirt with me. I had a great time last night, we all did. It was really good to talk to you and hear what you have been through.”
“I gotcha! You just told me there is already someone on the scene. No flirting. However, we can have fun without flirting.”
Annie looked thoughtful, “We can have wholesome innocent fun Chris, but you won’t forget will you? I am not interested in anything else. I am with someone.”
“Oh little lady, I will not forget that you are already taken. I will not flirt with you. I don’t know how wholesome I am, but I will be a gentleman. I am not going to play games with your heart Annie. But I would love to be your friend. I will buy you breakfast and lunch and dinner – you can eat up everything I earn. And I promise you we will have fun!”
Annie held out her hand across the table for Chris to shake, “Yousa has a deal. Weesa ganna just be friends!”
Robin put down his pen on the table he sat at and ran his hands over his face and hair. He read over the page he had just finished. What would she think? At least this would prepare her. He would have to go to see her. But if she knew a little of what was coming, at least she would have had time to calm down before she saw him. This would break her heart.

Kim, the creator of Writer Side of Life has given us some great writing prompts. Several of them appealed to me, but I have only chosen one to work on for now, because I am still playing catch up with blogging, after my trip to Australia:
I chose a prompt under the ROMANCE section: 3. Who is she waiting for?
