  1. ohhhhhhhhh, i so want to do this…but I totally stink at baking cakes. does it have to be scratch baked or can i cheat with a boxed mix (at least that way it becomes semi-edible). Although I make a terrific fruited cake……

    1. Suze – it’s completely up to you. We want everyone to enjoy what they do. We are kind of hoping for some disastrous bakes to make Gary feel better. He said his last cake resembled a black hole, which sounds very interesting. Those boxed mixes are usually great – I used a Betty Crocker box mix once and the sponge was light and airy and delicious. There are no rules about what goes in the cake. It’s all fun!

    1. I have made two (just in case nobody else baked!!) one is fruity and the other is choco/coffee. If I have time I intend to attempt a literally crushed caramel sandwich cake – but the recipe is terrifying and it’s a triple layer cake so I need another sandwich tin to make it. So number three might not happen at all,

      1. Actually, I’ll be baking Friday night, because I’m going to take the cake to a birthday party on Saturday. (And if it turns out to be a disaster, I’ll be going by the bakery early Saturday morning.) This is going to be great!

    1. One blogger has promised to make brownies instead!
But we are also hoping that there will be some brave souls who will maybe attempt the challenge and send in their disaster photos 🙂
