Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart Now Baby!

IMG_1345For many millions Sunday is Songday in one way or another, and for us bloggers that includes “SONG-LYRIC-SUNDAY”. Today’s theme is take/taking… as you can see in the post from Helen Vahdati, the creator of This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time:

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/4/18

I have found these past few weeks that as soon as I see Helen’s theme a song immediately pops into my head and it seems best to go with that and not overthink my choice!

This is a song I sang on stage several times in front of an enthusiastic audience…and I have sung it many times into my hairbrush around my bedroom. I love it! I have been singing it for years and I am sure it was because of a commercial television advert I saw when I was younger; only I cannot remember which one. I have included one possibility at the bottom of this post, but I am not 100% sure if this is the advert I am thinking of. I only remember the song, not the men trying on jeans, but perhaps I was just a bit too young to notice male totty in the video – am I allowed to even say that?:

Didn’t I make you feel like you were the only man yeah!
Didn’t I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can?
Honey, you know I did!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I’ve had enough
But I’m gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough

I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby
You know you got it if it makes you feel good
Oh, yes indeed

You’re out on the streets looking good
And you know what you got in your heart, that it ain’t right
And oh you never, never, hear me when I cry at night
Babe, I cry all the time!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I can’t stand the pain
But when you hold me in your arms, I’ll sing it once again

I’ll say come on, come on, come on, come on and take it!
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, baby yeah
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby
You know you got it if it makes you feel good

    1. I was listening to Janis Joplin’s version last night. I read that she had a much bigger hit with it than Erma.
I think it was Erma’s voice that is in the TV advert, so I think that must be why I am more familiar with her singing it.
      It’s a great song isn’t it.

    1. She has a gorgeous voice doesn’t she!
I reckon that advert was just a few years too early for me to notice the eye-candy. I probably would have noticed it if I had been 14/15. But I fell in love with the song.
